GROUNDHOG DAY 2003!
February 2, 2003 - 7AM

It was a cold grey morning at the Staten Island Zoo. Many people turned out to see what Staten Island Chuck would predict. Attendance was outstanding as many Islanders came to enjoy the event. Why does this big way-too-cute rodent hold such sway over us?

Ice sculptures reminded everyone that it was still winter, but you could still have fun and enjoy the cold!

Beth Gorrie of Staten Island OUT LOUD
shares the history behind Groundhogs Day.

"How can Chuck afford a house like that on Staten Island with no job?
Maybe it's rented....."

Well, Chuck predicted 6 more weeks of winter, and as usual he was right. Still, it is great to see him and all our nieghbors as we do every year for this fun event. See you there next year!
