Becoming a part of the WSIA family is easier than it seems. Here are the
steps to take to become a member of our team:
1. Fill out and hand in an application. These
can be found on the wall near the front desk. The application can be left
in the Personnel mailbox or with an available station member.
2. Attend a General Workshop. These are held
on various dates throughout the semester. To be a part, simply show up at
the station at the designated date and time.
3. Upon attending the General Workshop you will be asked to
sign up for a Board/EAS Workshop. The dates and times for these are listed
below and are conducted in the on-air studio.
4. When you have read "The Book"( which you will
receive at the General Workshop), and understand the contents then come in
and take the test. Passage of the test qualifies you as a station member.
At this time
you will be asked to choose a department in which you will fulfill a two
hour a week work requirement. You will also be provided with a station ID and a
mailbox. If you do not pass, you may retake the test until you do.
5. Drop by the station and schedule two sit-
ins. These are one-on-ones with two different DJ shifts on two separate days
where you will become better familiar with the tasks of a DJ. To schedule a
sit in please see the Programming Director and/ or the Personnel Director.
Bring a notebook and be ready to take notes. Don't be afraid to ask
questions.
